Ever since it was founded in the 16th Century, it has housed one of the most sacred relics of Buddhism – a tooth of Buddha collected from his funeral pyre and which is now protected within the gold-roofed Temple of the Tooth. See the blessing ceremony with all the fanfare, drums, trumpets and brightly colored Monks performing their rituals.
After Breakfast you will visit the Royal Botanical Gardens of Peradeniya in the morning.
(Departure from the hotel – 10.00 am)
Initially a royal park, in 1821 under British rule it became a botanical garden. Here, exotic crops such as coffee, tea, nutmeg, rubber and cinchona (quinine) – all of which were to become important to the country’s economy were first tested. The Botanical gardens are fantastic with an excellent orchid house and a wide variety of plant species from all over the world. For keen gardeners, at least a morning is recommended to visit the gardens, possibly longer. (Duration of visit: approx. 2½ hrs.)
After visiting the Royal Botanical Gardens on the way to Nuwara Eliya, you will visit a tea plantation and a factory. Here, you will learn the process how to fresh tea leaves and a bud are converted in to that fine brown dust and we call tea͙.
On the way to Nuwara Eliya you will pass by Ramboda falls and The Garadiya Ella.
Arrive in Nuwara Eliya and check in to the hotel.
On this day is free to relax and enjoy a guided tour of the city.
Set in the cool and misty hilly interior at an altitude of 1800m is the colonial hill station of Nuwara Eliya. Built by the British in the 19th century as an escape from the sweltering heat of the lowlands it came complete with half-timbered mock-Tudor houses with inglenook fireplaces & billiard tables, a golf course, race track, gentlemen’s clubs and botanical gardens. Now a bustling town and the vegetable garden of Sri Lanka it nonetheless gives you a glimpse into life in the colonial heyday.  Return to the hotel for overnight stay.
On day 4 you have to be ready by 5:00am to travel to Horton Plains. You can have early breakfast or can have some packed breakfast from the hotel.
If you want to skip the Horton Plains you can go to the Nuwara Eliya gardens do a the city Tour.
The Horton Plains plateau comes to a sudden end at World’s End, a stunning escarpment that plunges 880m. The walk here is 4km, but the trail then loops back to Baker’s Falls (2km) and continues back to the entrance (another 3.5km). The 9.5km round trip takes a leisurely three hours. Unless you get there early, the view from World’s End is often obscured by mist, particularly during the rainy season from April to September.
All you can expect to see from World’s End after around 9am is a swirling white wall. The early morning (between 6am and 10am) is the best time to visit, before the clouds roll in. That’s when you’ll spy toy-town, tea-plantation villages in the valley below, and an unencumbered view south towards the coast.
Wear strong and comfortable walking shoes, a hat and sunglasses. Bring sunscreen, food and water. Ask your guest house to prepare a breakfast package for you, and reward yourself with an alfresco brekkie once you reach World’s End. The weather can change very quickly on the plains – one minute it can be sunny and clear, the next chilly and misty. Bring a few extra layers of warm clothing (it’s very cold up there at 6am).
It is forbidden to leave the paths, which can be slippy and tough to negotiate in places. There are no safety rails around World’s End and there have been a couple of accidents where people have fallen to their deaths. If you have young children with you keep a very firm grip on them as you approach the cliff edge.
After Breakfast around 09:00 am you will proceed to Tea plucking activity in the Hotel. The needs to be booked in advance from the hotel.
After the activity you will do the check out from the hotel and travel to your last destination Negombo.
On the way to Negombo you will pass by Saint clare falls and Dewon falls.
After having breakfast at the hotel, we will take you to the Airport for your departure.
Please be in the airport at 07:45AM (Flight time 10:45AM)
