Overview
You arrived at the Bandaranaike international airport around 01:20am and you will be warmly welcome at the airport by a representative and transfer you to Heritance Negombo. After breakfast at the hotel around 09 am you will transfer to Nuwara Eliya. You will drive around 4hr and on the way you will visit Ramboda falls and The Garadiya Ella and tea plantations.
On day 2 you have to be ready by 5:00am to travel to Horton Plains. You can have early breakfast or can have some packed breakfast from the hotel.
The Horton Plains plateau comes to a sudden end at World’s End, a stunning escarpment that plunges 880m. The walk here is 4km, but the trail then loops back to Baker’s Falls (2km) and continues back to the entrance (another 3.5km). The 9.5km round trip takes a leisurely three hours. Unless you get there early, the view from World’s End is often obscured by mist, particularly during the rainy season from April to September.
All you can expect to see from World’s End after around 9am is a swirling white wall. The early morning (between 6am and 10am) is the best time to visit, before the clouds roll in. That’s when you’ll spy toy-town, tea-plantation villages in the valley below, and an unencumbered view south towards the coast.
Wear strong and comfortable walking shoes, a hat and sunglasses. Bring sunscreen, food and water. Ask your guest house to prepare a breakfast package for you, and reward yourself with an alfresco brekkie once you reach World’s End. The weather can change very quickly on the plains – one minute it can be
sunny and clear, the next chilly and misty. Bring a few extra layers of warm clothing (it’s very cold up there at 6am).
It is forbidden to leave the paths, which can be slippy and tough to negotiate in places. There are no safety rails around World’s End and there have been a couple of accidents where people have fallen to their deaths. If you have young children with you keep a very firm grip on them as you approach the cliff edge.
After Breakfast around 8:00 am you will proceed to Jetwing Kaduruketha.
After Breakfast you can enjoy the hotel facilities and the driver will take you to Ella 98 Acres Resort & Spa.
Enjoy breakfast in the hotel.
Then you can have a drive to Sea Turtle Farm & Hatchery and after the coastal town of Galle, the capital of the Southern Province, is best known for its impressive fort: a UNESCO World Heritage Site and the best preserved colonial sea fortress in Asia. The fort was built and modified over 4 centuries; started by the Portuguese in the late 16th century it was later taken over by the Dutch and eventually by the British. Protected within its walls, bastions and ramparts is a complete town with narrow streets, churches and cloistered inner courtyards of shuttered mansions, which clearly bear testament to their colonial past.
Arrive in Bentota and check in to the hotel. Proceed to Balapitiya and enjoy a boat ride in Madu River in the late afternoon.
The estuary of the “Madu River” is a complex coastal ecosystem of Mangroves and islands. It may be one of the last remaining tracts of pristine mangrove forests in Sri Lanka. A boat trip is a wonderful way of seeing some of the hundreds of species of plants and animals – monkeys eat fruit in the trees, a water monitor lizard glides slowly through the water, and cormorants, egrets and kingfishers wait patiently on the banks, eyeing the water for prey.
The main occupations of the local inhabitants are producing cinnamon and prawn fishing – if you take the trip in the evening you will see the fishermen in their canoes lighting lanterns to attract the shellfish into their traps.
Also, you have an opportunity to enjoy a Fish Therapy in Madu River. The fish spa treatment at Madu River is a very famous thing. The tanks float in the river and are stocked with a huge number of fish. You’ll simply get seat around the tanks and put your feet into it. There is a set of guidelines before you jump into the fish therapy.
If you are not familiar with fish therapy, at first you feel ticklish as the fish removes the dead outer part of the skin and calluses. Later the ticklish feeling fades away making it a relaxing sensation.
After Breakfast you will you will enjoy the hotel and around 12 pm check out from the hotel and transfer to airport.
